TUF "Kimbo Slice vs Roy Nelson" Results & Recap
This week we on "The Ultimate Fighter" The Dean of Mean Keith Jardine help out Rashad's team. Of course this caused some trash talking with Rashad saying he hurt Rampages jaw and Rampage said he fought Keith because Rashad wouldn't fight him. James McSweeney got involved in the smack talk and then things got a bit heated between Rampage and James. Rashad had to step in between the 2 because he didn't want James kicked off the show.
Rampage talks about Kimbo saying he isn't what you would think he is. At one point Rampage is talking with Kimbo asking him about his beard and if he has ever found chicken bones in it. They where all laughing and sorry to say.. Kimbo is very likable!
In the training they had Kimbo working on a mount escape and Rampage didn't like it because Roy Nelson has a big belly that he insisted would be in the way. The coaches tell Kimbo just to picture knocking Roy out and it will happen.
Marcus Jones cuts out a few minutes early and when the fighters start talking about who is going to fight next Marcus gets mad because Rampage tells him he won't be fighting next because of his knee hurting. Rampage steps off to the side with him and lets him know that he is looking out for him and everything is squashed. Everyone starts given Marcus shit for being so sensitive. Marcus even talks about how he likes gardening and stuff.
Kimbo and Marcus where talking about the streets and how things where and how they are now. Marcus has a lot of respect for Kimbo and talks about how hard he works and how strong he is mentally. Kimbo feels the same and looks up to Marcus and said it's like looking in the mirror.
At the weigh-ins Kimbo weighs 230lbs and Nelson weighed in at 264. Dana White talks about the fight a little and says anything could happen. Dana tells Roy that he doesn't look like he weighs 264. But then Roy picks up his shirt and shows him the belly and Dana says, oh.. there it is.
Team Rampage has nothing but good things to say about Kimbo and his training. Rashad says that Roy is one of the best guys they have on the ground and that he can stand up too. He says that Roy looks out of shape but he isn't.
Fight Day Kimbo does some light sparring and goofing off in the gym. Roy seems to have some respect for Kimbo and doesn't talk trash before the fight. He does say that he might keep it standing if he feels he is getting the better of Kimbo but that he will go to the ground if he needs to.
Round 1. Both fighters meet in the middle and feel each other out for the first 20 seconds. Kimbo lands a leg kick 45 seconds in. A minute and a half in and they are still feeling each other out. Roy is looking pretty comfortable. until Kimbo starts landing some shots and his him up against the fence. Roy reverses Kimbo and his him on the fence and lands a couple pot shots before getting double under hooks. Kimbo locks in a wizzer but doesn't know what to do with it. Roy takes Kimbo down with a double leg trip, with about 1:30 left and ends up mounting Kimbo when he takes him down. Kimbo try's to keep him close. Roy jumps to side control and Kimbo almost gets out by pushing off the fence. Roy locks down one Kimbo's arms with his legs while holding down the other with a arm and commences to hitting Kimbo in the head for the last 30 seconds of the round. Herb Dean doesn't stop the fight though so we go to round 2!
Round 2. Kimbo comes out landing some strikes about 30 seconds in and fights off a takedown. Then Kimbo threw a knee and Roy uses the opportunity to take Kimbo down. Roy goes right to side control and is working hard to try and pin Kimbo's arm down with his knee. He eventually gets it pinned down and Kimbo gets trapped and can't defend himself.
Nelson defeats Slice by TKO in round 2.
Dana was funny talking about Roy being proud of his performance when he did just enough to win and not get hit.
I think we will see Kimbo back for sure. Someone always gets hurt, or pusses out and goes home. From the previews for next week it looks like Marcus Jones might be out which will make a nice quick return for Kimbo.
